The Lady Panthers made a huge 18 point comeback last night at LaVille High School to bring home their 5th conference win for the year. The Panthers started off slowly in set 1, with several serve receive errors and miscommunications. A timeout at 8-4 did little to move the Panthers forward. Another timeout at 14-4 forced a serving error for the Lancers, starting a 5-0 Panther run. However, more unforced errors caused the Panthers to dig another hole, leaving them down 18-10. With momentum quickly draining, setter Belle Blickenstaff stepped up and pushed several aggressive serves and a total of 5 aces across the net to bring the Panthers within 2. Ashlynn Brooke added another string of strong serves, leaving the Panthers tied at 22. A quick side out put the ball back on the Panther’s side, but it was an ace to the 5/6 seam by Mandee Weisenburger that sealed the set 25-23, Panthers on top.
Moving into set 2, Pioneer used the momentum lacking in set 1 to get ahead of the Lancers early and stay there, leaving set 2 at 25-19.
Blickenstaff had 5 aces for the night, while Kortnee Kline added 3 aces and 2 kills. Meisha Price had 2 digs, aces and kills a piece, while Kaitlin Weldy ran the offense with 5 assists for the night.
The Lady Panthers will host Winamac again tomorrow at 6:00 to start the HNAC tournament.
